Research Scientist in Machine Learning and Transportation Research

The Xerox Research Centre Europe is expanding. Within the area of Machine Learning for Services we are looking for a very strong researcher in the fields of transportation research, machine learning, demand management, economics, and/or algorithmic mechanism design.
The ideal candidate will have an active interest in developing fundamentally new techniques to learn and use models in settings with strategic agents. Research will be driven by projects such as dynamic pricing problems for parking, smart sales platforms, or advanced outsourcing systems. As a researcher you will be expected to obtain an understanding of real-world processes by analyzing data and engaging with specialists, formalize challenging problems, develop new solutions, and work with business and development teams to ensure that these solutions have a significant
impact. We work together with top academic partners and expect our researchers to publish results in top-tier conferences and journals.

Profile:

  • PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or related field.
  • Strong publication record in top-tier conferences and journals.
  • Strong English-language written and oral communications skills

December 1st, 2011, or until position is filled.

Expected starting date is early 2012.
