The Work Practice Technology (WPT) group uses ethnographic methods to study peoples work environments ; based on the resulting deep understanding of the observed practices the group then designs innovative technologies to facilitate the work. One of our current projects aims at developping a technology to assist graphic designers and printers to cooperatively produce high quality printed designs. In this project we are particularly concerned with the reproduction of colour across heterogenous devices. Therefore we are building a print job reviewing environment, called Print Mediator.
In this internship project the student will first elaborate a design of the Print Mediator review application that is adapted to a web-based workflow and then implement this design into a working demonstrator. The candidate should have good knowledge of object-oriented software engineering and Web applications architecture. An interest in image processing techniques and/or basic knowledge of the PDF format will be a plus.
The successful applicant will be integrated into a multi-disciplinary software design team in a world-class industrial research organization.
