Gilbert Harrus is currently in charge of the Intellectual Property and Business Valuation activities at the Xerox Research Centre Europe; this includes for example the oversight of contractual relationships with research partners, the creation and oversight of the use of intellectual property at XRCE, and the oversight of business valuation process.
First employee at the Xerox Research Centre, Gilbert was a Director for the Advanced Technology and Systems group (1993-2002), in charge of technology transfer for XRCE. This organisation has been a role model - it has been influential in the creation of a similar lab at PARC Inc. in 1999 and at Fuji Xerox Research in 2002. Gilbert has also created a number of teams at XRCE, including the Technology Showroom and the Computing and Network Services teams.
Before joining Xerox Research Centre Europe in Grenoble, Gilbert Harrus was a Project Leader at O2Technology, a start-up from INRIA, where he articipated in an advanced R&D effort for building the O2 Object Oriented Database Management System.
Gilbert Harrus studied Mathematics at the Ecole Normale Supérieure before joining the University of Paris-Sud, France, where he obtained a Doctorate in Computer Science in 1984. Between 1982 and 1987, he was a researcher and a teacher at this University. He is an author or co-author of around 10 scientific papers.
