On the basis of a networked infrastructure of easily available sensors and context-processing components, which has been installed at the Xerox Research Center Europe, we are developing applications for the support of workplace interactions. Notions of activity and availability that are derived from low-level sensor information are used to facilitate informal ad hoc communications between peers.
