Jean-Pierre Chanod is the Document Structure Area Manager at the Xerox Research Centre Europe (XRCE). He joined XRCE in 1993, where he held previous positions as Area Manager for Parsing & Semantics and senior scientist.

His main research interests relate to natural language and document content processing, with topics ranging from morphology to robust parsing, semantics and conversion to XML.

Jean-Pierre Chanod has been involved in a number of international research collaborations, in Europe and Asia, especially for the development of multilingual resources. He contributed to a number of French national projects and EU-funded projects such as TwentyOne, Elsnet, Elsnet-Goes-East, STEEL, and currently the integrated project VIKEF.

Before joining XRCE in 1993, Jean-Pierre Chanod was project leader at the IBM Paris scientific centre where actively contributed to the PLNLP project. Jean-Pierre Chanod graduated from Ecole normale supérieure (mathematics) in 1980.
