I am a Research Scientist in the Machine Learning for Services (MLS) Group at XRCE. My research interests are statistical machine learning and their applications in diverse domains such as recommender systems, discrete choice modeling, dynamic pricing, transportation, and social network analysis.

Activities

I am co-chairing the NIPS'11 Workshop on Choice Models and Preference Learning, 17 December 2011, Sierra Nevada, Spain.

I co-chaired the PASCAL 2 sponsored event -- International Workshop on Social Web Mining, co-located with IJCAI, July 18, 2011, jointly with Francesco Bonchi, Wray Buntine, and Ricard Gavalda.

Research Interests

Bayesian inference, discrete choice modeling, recommender systems, multitask learning, social network analysis, information retrieval, and mechanism design.

Education

I obtained my PhD degree from the Australian National University in 2011, and the thesis title is Bayesian Recommender Systems: Models and Algorithms. Prior to my PhD, I earned my Master's degree in Automation from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2007, and my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the Henan University of Science and Technology in 2004. Other information prior to joining XRCE in January 2011 can be found here.
