Xerox Research Centre Europe
Frédérique Segond manages the Parsing and Semantics research group at Xerox's European Research Centre (XRCE) in Grenoble, France. She has held this position since 2003. Segond joined Xerox as a research scientist in 1993 to work on an
intelligent dictionary lookup tool. She was then made responsible
for the design and implementation of a French Lexical Functional Grammar
(LFG) and afterwards for the Lexical Sense Disambiguation project
where she worked on the European projects "EAGLES", "ROMANSEVAL"
and "EuroWordNet". Before joining Xerox, Segond first worked at IBM-Yorktown researching the links between syntax and semantics then joined France Télécom research. Segond is the co-author of five books and more than 50 scientific papers. She is a member of several scientific committees including the French competitive pole "Cap Digital". She also provides her scientific expertise to the European Commission. Segond holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the Ecole des Hautes
Etudes in Social Sciences.
